Tata-Airbus C295 manufacturing a major leap in India’s aerospace self-reliance, says Defence Secretary
This monumental step in India’s aerospace journey comes after a formal contract valued at $2.5 billion was signed between India’s Ministry of Defence and Airbus Defence in 2021, mandating the delivery of 56 C295 aircraft to the Indian Air Force. Since September 2023, six of these aircraft have already been delivered by Airbus from its Spain assembly line, while the inaugural production of the C295 from India’s Tata Aircraft Complex is scheduled for 2026.
