1.6°C recorded in UAE: Temperatures to fall slightly, but it will feel colder
Temperatures across the UAE are expected to dip only marginally over the coming days, but residents are likely to feel colder as fresh winds sweep across the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).While some areas have already recorded near-freezing lows, overall daytime temperatures will remain largely stable, with only a slight decline forecast.Dr Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at NCM, said the change in temperatures will be limited. “The temperature will be the same, there will not be a change. There will be a decrease but not too much,” he said, adding that the drop will be restricted to “one, two or three degrees”.Stay up to date with the latest news. Chilly conditions ahead
Winds moving in from the north will begin affecting the UAE, initially over coastal waters before extending inland. “We have another parameter which has become more effective from Sunday. This is the north-westerly wind coming from the North, fresh winds sometimes strong over the sea,” Dr Habib said.
He warned that sea conditions will deteriorate, with the Arabian Sea expected to be “rough to very rough throughout the day.”
Although the actual temperature change will be small, the wind will significantly amplify the sensation of cold. “You will not feel too much decrease in temperature. Near-freezing lows
Some areas have already seen sharp drops in minimum temperatures, particularly inland. “Temperatures have fallen to 1-3 degrees especially in the western part of the UAE, in Al Dhafra area,” Dr Habib said.
Mountain regions such as Jebel Hafeet and Jebel Jais continue to record lower readings due to their elevation, which exceeds 1,000 metres.
Raknah, north of Al Ain, has seen especially pronounced cooling because of its local geography. “Raknah has special characteristics… it has the orographic (when the land forces the air to rise) effect,” Dr Habib said.
