A young Indian expat was found dead in Fujairah after falling asleep in his trailer, a family member confirmed to Khaleej Times. The body of 29-year-old Ansar was found on Friday morning inside the trailer truck he worked in. The cause of his death is yet unknown.
“He never used to sleep in his room,” his twin brother Anas told Khaleej Times. “He preferred to sleep in his truck. He had worn two layers of socks and shirt because he was cold. The trailer was switched off, and all the windows were shut. He had a heater inside the truck to keep him warm. We are waiting for the forensic report from Fujairah Police to know the exact reason on his death.”
Ansar hailed from the southern Indian state of Kerala and had come to the UAE eight years ago. He has not visited his hometown since. “He was planning to go to India next month,” said Anas. “He worked in a garage in Masafi, and he drove around the UAE a lot. Last month, he applied for a heavy truck license and was waiting for the test. Once the test was done, he wanted to go to home for a while.”

While Ansar worked in Masafi, Anas worked in Murbah with his father and uncle, who ran a grocery shop in the area. Their father traveled to India earlier this month. “My grandmother was not well so my father went to India and stayed there for a while,” he said. “When Ansar died, I had to tell him because there was some documentation that we needed him to sign. Later, he slowly broke the news to my mother. She has been crying nonstop since then.”
Anas said that even though he hadn’t seen his brother in over two months, the duo always spoke to each other. “No matter how busy we were, we would always find at least 10 minutes each day to catch up with each other,” he said. “I always used to worry about him because he never took care of himself properly. I used to advice him.”
A social worker said that the nonprofit organization Kerala Muslim Cultural Center (KMCC) was handling the repatriation of the young man’s body. “Once the paperwork is done, his body will be sent back to Kerala where his funeral will take place,” he said.
