Bahraini shooter Safa secures gold as UAE’s Fatima settles for bronze
The shooting competitions at the 8th Arab Women’s Sports Tournament concluded on Sunday with the 10m Air Rifle event, held at the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club Shooting Range, in a final marked by high technical standards and intense competition until the last shots.Bahraini shooter Safa Mohammed Al Doseri, representing Al Riffa Club, claimed the gold medal after delivering a composed performance in the final, posting a score of 247.9 points. Al Doseri edged Kuwait’s Maryam Mohammed Arzouqi of Kuwait Shooting Club by a two-point margin, with Arzouqi securing the silver medal on 245.9 points.The bronze medal went to Emirati shooter Fatima Obaid Al Suwaidi, who finished with a total of 223.7 points.In the team competition, shooters from Al Riffa Club (Bahrain) topped the standings through the trio of Safa Mohammed Al Doseri, Nouf Khalil Al Doseri, and Marwa Hamad Al Amairi, achieving a combined score of 1852.1 points. Kuwait Shooting Club placed second, represented by Retaj Ahmed Al Zyady, Maryam Mohammed Arzouqi, and Fajr Saleh Al Dhubaib, with 1847.3 points, while Qatar’s Al Ramy Sports Club finished third through ALMaha Mishal Al Ali, Dalal Mohammed Al Qebaisi, and Fatima Abdullah Al Abdulrahman, scoring 1843.7 points.The medal ceremonies were conducted by Sheikha Hayat Bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Supervision and Follow-up Committee; Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Anzi, Secretary-General of the Arab National Olympic Committees; Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chair of the Supreme Organising Committee of AWST; and Mohammed Suhail Al Neyadi, President of the UAE Shooting Federation, alongside representatives of the tournament’ partners.With the conclusion of the 10m Air Rifle event, the shooting competitions officially came to an end, following the completion of the 10m Air Pistol event on 6 February. The shooting programme closed on a high note, reflecting a strong technical level and closely contested battles for podium positions until the final shots.
