Dubai businessman CJ Roy dies in India during tax raid, family friend confirms

Prominent Indian businessman and Chairman of Confident Group Dr. CJ Roy has died, a close family friend has confirmed to Khaleej Times. According to him, the incident took place on Friday.The cause of death has been linked to ongoing Income Tax raids against the businessman. “What I know so far is that during the raid, he was questioned relentlessly and intimidated,” said the family friend. “He retreated to his office and then a gunshot was heard. He was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.”More details about the incident are expected to be revealed after investigations. With the help of social media, he was able to locate the red-colored modest Maruti 800 car and shared that he had bought in 1994 with his own earnings.He was also a known philanthropist.
