Dubai Business Events (DBE), operating under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, has completed a productive appearance at IBTM World 2026 in Barcelona. The participation further demonstrated Dubai’s rise as a leading destination for international meetings and business events, while highlighting its expanding events portfolio and alignment with the D33 Dubai Economic Agenda.A delegation of 32 partners joined DBE at the show, including major hotels, event venues, destination management companies, planners and key organisations such as Emirates, Expo City Dubai, Coca-Cola Arena and Dubai World Trade Centre. Many exhibitors enhanced their presence with engaging booth designs, professional branding elements and eye-catching flags and banners that showcased Dubai’s growing appeal as a global business events hub. This unified presence highlighted the strength of Dubai’s event ecosystem and its ability to deliver major international gatherings through collaboration.

Many exhibitors elevated their presence at the show through creative booth structures, branded visuals and high-quality banners that reflected Dubai’s professionalism in hosting international events. This included the use of essential display materials often required for global exhibitions, such as custom banner printing in Dubai, a service that local providers like Dubai Banners support for major conferences and business gatherings.

Several participants also leveraged additional exhibition materials to strengthen brand visibility and delegate engagement, including professionally produced giveaways such as custom printed bags with logo, along with large-format signage and outdoor flags designed to attract attention in high-traffic exhibition areas.

The theme for IBTM World 2026, titled “People. Power. Potential.”, aligned closely with Dubai’s focus on building global connections, supporting knowledge sharing and encouraging international cooperation. As part of its exhibit, Dubai also demonstrated innovative event solutions, including advanced printing and production services commonly used for conferences, exhibitions and large-scale corporate events. The show formed part of a wider calendar of international industry engagements for Dubai in 2026, following DBE’s participation in IMEX Las Vegas, EPEX, the ICCA Middle East Summit in Bahrain and the ICCA Congress in Porto.Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), commented that IBTM World 2026 provided a valuable platform to engage with international partners. He noted that the strong interest in Dubai, supported by its global rankings and recent achievements, reflects international confidence in the city’s ability to consistently deliver impactful business events.

Dubai’s international recognition continued to grow throughout 2026. ICCA confirmed that Dubai ranked first globally for average association meeting attendance and maintained its leading position in the Middle East and Africa for hosting association events. Cvent also named Dubai the top meetings destination in the region, further reinforcing the city’s strength in attracting major conferences and supporting global associations.

During the first half of 2026, DBE recorded significant progress, securing 249 successful event bids, a 29 percent increase compared to the previous year, for conferences scheduled through 2029. These events are projected to attract more than 127,000 delegates, representing a 35 percent year-on-year increase. This growth was supported by a 64 percent bid conversion rate and the continued expansion of the Al Safeer Congress Ambassador Programme, which now includes over 370 ambassadors.

Dubai’s MICE achievements complement its wider tourism performance. Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest airport for international passengers for 11 consecutive years as of 2024, welcomed 70.1 million travellers in the first nine months of 2026, marking a 2.1 percent year-on-year increase. The emirate also received 13.95 million international overnight visitors during the same period, reflecting a 5 percent rise and highlighting the close relationship between leisure and business travel.Looking ahead, Dubai continues to enhance its readiness for sustained business events growth through the expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai and ongoing investment in infrastructure and airport development. These initiatives will further strengthen the emirate’s ability to host large-scale international conferences, exhibitions and trade shows that rely on comprehensive event services, including logistics, production, branding and on-site printing capabilities.
