Emirati athletes asserted a strong presence on the third day of the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championships, as stars of the UAE national team delivered standout performances during the 13th edition of the tournament, held at the Zayed Sports Complex Hall under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.In the overall competitions of the youth and ladies categories, part of the G2-ranked tournament, champion Rimas Tamim captured the gold medal in the under-63 kg division after a series of tough matches, culminating in a victory over Tunisia’s Mariam Al-Sawaih.Hind Osama Al-Salmi added a second gold medal after overcoming Tunisia’s Yomna Al-Maqdad in the final, amid strong crowd engagement with the thrilling bout.In the under-59 kg category, Abdullah Anas claimed the silver medal following a hard-fought match against Belarusian Maksim Patsenyuki.Yara Boughader further strengthened the Emirati presence by winning the bronze medal after losing in the semifinals to Uzbekistan’s Samira Khaitov in the under-44 kg competition.In this context, Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and a member of the International Taekwondo Federation, affirmed that these achievements underscore the significant development witnessed by Emirati taekwondo.
