Love of cricket
During the past six decades of my following cricket, after the Chennai Chepauk tied Test match between Australia vs India, I have seen a cracker of a T-20 match between Afghanistan and South Africa. Right from ball one, it was a see-saw match, till the last ball of Super Over No.2. It was 42 overs of entertainment for the sparse attendance at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.There were hardly 18,000 spectators, when the stadium can accommodate nearly 1,00,000 spectators. Ironically, of all the stadiums, both in India and Sri Lanka, except at Narendra Modi stadium, rest all had full attendance so far. Still this stadium has got more matches than other cities in India. The BCCI should have chosen one or two more cities to spread the love of cricket.Anyway, now that Ahmedabad has been given more matches, it is the duty of the Gujarat Cricket Association to ensure more attendance. If need be, they could issue free passes to students of nearby schools and colleges and allow them to enjoy the matches.N. Mahadevan,Chennai, India
