Power failure in some Sharjah areas halts government services, ATM operations

The transaction was cancelled, and we were asked to return the next day,” said Abu Eman, a Sharjah resident.The power failure also caused ATM machines in affected areas to stop functioning, leaving some residents unable to withdraw cash. “I could not withdraw the money because the ATM was not working,” said Ahmed Ali, a resident of the Al Taawun area.“I went to Sharjah Cooperative for my weekend grocery shopping. When I reached the counter, the power went off unexpectedly. I waited for 10 minutes, but electricity was not restored, so I left my items and left because I wasn’t sure how long it would take,” said Zubair Khan, another Al Majaz resident.Aslam Khan, a resident of the Al Taawun area, said internet services were also affected in some locations. “I tried to reach out to my colleagues, but to no avail. It seems certain parts of the area are experiencing challenges due to a power outage,” he said.Several residents also took to X and other social media platforms to share their experiences, with posts mentioning power cuts in areas such as Al Nahda and Al Majaz, lifts being out of service in residential towers, and home internet connections not working.
