Exercise caution amid ongoing severe weather: Authorities in the UAE are issuing alerts and urging the public to stay vigilant as heavy rain and thunderstorms sweep the northern part of the country and advance toward the rest of the Emirates.

The Ministry of Interior have urged residents to prioritise their safety during ongoing adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and fluctuating temperatures. The authority have issued a series of safety guidelines for the public to follow during this period.

Officials emphasised that travel and venturing outdoors should be avoided. "Go out when absolutely necessary," said the MOI advisory, and warned against venturing out during strong winds. Motorists are strongly advised drive safely, including reducing speed, maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, and remaining calm and cautious while on the road.

Authorities have issued strict warnings, urging the public to stay away from valleys, flood-prone channels, and the sea. Access to coastal areas is completely banned during the current weather conditions, and residents are advised to avoid locations where water tends to accumulate.

Home safety measures have also been recommended, such as securing loose objects, balconies, and rooftops, and removing any hazardous materials from outdoor spaces to prevent accidents.

Officials in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have issued warnings, urging residents to remain cautious as intense rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms are forecast to sweep across the UAE over the coming 48 hours.

UAE has urged private sector companies across the country to exercise caution and implement all necessary safety measures at workplaces on Thursday and Friday, December 18 and 19. Authorities stressed the importance of safeguarding the health and safety of workers, particularly those engaged in outdoor work where continuing operations may be challenging under adverse weather. Employers were urged to assess risks carefully and take appropriate preventive measures to protect employees.

Officials reminded the public to rely only on verified sources for weather updates and to avoid spreading rumours or sensationalised information. Following these guidelines is crucial to protecting both residents and workers during periods of unstable weather.weather
