UAE: Fifth child discharged from hospital after tragic car crash kills her brothers
The fifth child of a couple who were involved in a horrific crash on Saturday has been discharged from the hospital. According to a social worker, the 10-year-old girl has recovered from her injuries and is now staying with a relative in Abu Dhabi. This comes just a day after her four brothers were buried in the Qusais cemetery after an emotional janazah (funeral prayer).
“The girl is completely recovered physically,” said the social worker. “The mother is still in hospital. She had a surgery on Wednesday as well for her injuries. The father has been discharged but he is still spending time in the hospital next to his wife.”
The father had asked to be discharged on Tuesday so that he could attend the janazah of his four sons and be there at the burial. He arrived from Abu Dhabi and attended the prayer along with hundreds of others in a wheelchair.

On Thursday, the family will hold a traditional condolence gathering, called an Azza, at the Al Warqa Grand Mosque for their four children. The morning gathering will be held between 10am and 12pm and the evening one will be between 4pm and 7pm.
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the family was involved in a car crash close to Ghanthoot on their way to their home in Dubai after visiting the Liwa festival. The accident, which happened at around 4am, killed three children — aged 14, 12 and five — as well as their housemaid on the spot. A fourth child, aged seven, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Compassion
A family friend told Khaleej Times that they were thankful for the compassion extended by the UAE governments in the face of the tragedy. “At every turn, we received the utmost compassion and support,” she said. “Whether it was in offering treatment, getting paperwork ready or honoring the wishes of the family, the kindness shown to us by various departments is something we will always remember with gratefulness.”
Generally, UAE law specifies that residents can be buried in the emirate where their visa is issued from. Although the family had visas from Ras Al Khaimah, they were granted special permission to bury the four children in a cemetery in Dubai.
A social worker added that Dubai Police officials have been in touch with him constantly to support the family. “Some of the officials stayed up till 2am to ensure that all the paperwork is processed and the burial is expedited,” he said. “They have also been in touch with me to check on the condition of the family and see if they need any kind of support or assistance.”
The mother of the children was told about the death of her four children just hours before the funeral on Tuesday. Her request to see the children one last time was honored and the bodies were taken back to the hospital after they were washed and shrouded at the Abu Dhabi central morgue.
