UAE: Fourth child dies in hospital after car crash that killed 3 brothers

The seven-year-old child of a family that was involved in a car crash in Abu Dhabi over the weekend has died in the hospital. The boy was admitted to hospital on Saturday after suffering grave injuries in the car crash that killed three of his brothers and their housemaid. A social worker that spoke to Khaleej Times said that the boy had been in a critical condition and died on Monday evening. “We had received special permission to bury his brothers in the UAE,” he said. “We were just getting the paperwork ready when I received a message from the family that the fourth child has also passed away. We are now trying to expedite the process so that all four brothers can be buried together.”It was on Saturday that the car carrying the family and their housemaid were involved in a crash while returning from a trip to Liwa. The parents and two of their children — a daughter aged 10 and a son aged 7 — were in hospital until the death of the 7-year-old.The family, hailing from the southern Indian state of Kerala, have been living in the UAE for several years. The children were students of the Arab Unity School in Dubai. In a statement to Khaleej Times, Mark Pollitt, the principal of the school that they were “heartbroken” about the accident. “Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with the family as they endure an unimaginable time of grief and uncertainty,” he said. “Arab Unity School is, first and foremost, a community. In moments like this, we come together to care for one another, to support those who are hurting most, and to move forward with compassion and unity.”The school sent out an email to parents and personally visited the classes of the deceased children to inform students about the tragic news.
