UAE weather: Rains likely; temperatures to dip to 4ºC in some areas

After a period of unstable conditions with heavy rains, flooding and hail, UAE residents experienced a cold weekend, with temperatures dropping all over the country.

However, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the country will experience a gradual rise in temperatures on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Despite the warming trend, residents in mountainous areas can still expect chilly conditions, with temperatures dipping as low as 4°C.

Daytime highs are forecast to reach 22°C in Abu Dhabi and 24°C in Dubai and Sharjah — up from Sunday’s maximums of 21°C in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and 22°C in Dubai. Overnight temperatures will remain cool, falling to 13°C in Sharjah, 14°C in Abu Dhabi, and 15°C in Dubai.

The skies will be partly cloudy in general, with a chance of light rainfall. Low clouds are set to appear over the islands and some western regions of the country. Residents — especially those in the western coastal and internal areas — are in for a humid night and Tuesday morning.

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for rough seas. Fresh northeasterly winds of up to 40kmph are expected to cause rough conditions in the Arabian Gulf, particularly in northern areas, with wave heights reaching up to 6 feet until 2pm today. Similar conditions are forecast in the Oman Sea, where rough seas and strong winds will persist until 11am.
