UoS celebrates UAE, Kuwait’s historical, fraternal relations
In celebration of the “UAE and Kuwait: Brothers Forever” week, the University of Sharjah (UoS), through the Deanship of Men’s Student Affairs, organised a special event in cooperation with the UoS Kuwaiti Cultural Club at the University City Hall.The event was attended by Professor Esameldin Agami, Chancellor of the University, alongside several vice chancellors, college deans, members of the academic and administrative staff, students and their parents.The gathering affirmed the deep-rooted historical ties and strong fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait.The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran.This was followed by an opening address reflecting the depth of the relationship between the UAE and Kuwait, delivered by students Ghalia Mal Allah and Latifa Al Dakhil, who expressed the mutual loyalty and appreciation between the two countries.Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, emphasised the strong bonds between the two countries.She also praised the ambition of Kuwaiti youth and expressed the University’s pride in having Kuwaiti students. Dr. Amina highlighted the importance of cultural clubs in fostering national identity, enhancing cultural awareness, and building bridges of communication between people of different cultures.The celebration also featured a segment highlighting the leaders of the UAE, a poem delivered by student Khaled Al-Subaie, and an artistic performance titled “Brotherhood Without Borders.”In addition, a performance depicting the history and development of education in the State of Kuwait was presented.Student Hammad Al-Ajmi also recited a poem, while students Ghalia Mal Allah and Mohammed Al-Shammari, representing the UoS Kuwaiti Cultural Club at the University, delivered a speech expressing gratitude and appreciation to the University of Sharjah.The programme concluded with an artistic operetta and the honouring of participants and sponsors in recognition of their efforts and contributions.The celebration also included a variety of activities and artistic performances organised by the University through the Kuwaiti Cultural Club.These activities aimed to introduce students to the heritage, culture, and civilisation of the State of Kuwait and to promote cultural exchange.Recently, the UoS, through its Center of Excellence for Public Health (CEPH) under the Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS), has organised the 1st International Public Health Conference (IPHC) under the theme “Driving Innovation, Engagement, and Collaboration for a Healthier UAE.”The two-day conference brought together public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, healthcare providers and technology experts from across the UAE and beyond to address pressing public health challenges and explore solutions that support the UAE’s vision of becoming a regional leader in public health innovation.In his opening remarks, Prof. Agamy thanked Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University, for his continued support.He said the conference reflects UoS’s commitment to advancing public health as a cornerstone of national well-being and sustainable development.The Chancellor noted that the University offers over 40 undergraduate and graduate programmes across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and allied health sciences, supported by several affiliated research centres.He added that the conference explores practical, data-driven strategies to tackle real-world issues, such as managing chronic diseases, promoting mental health and utilising artificial intelligence for public benefit.Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice-Chancellor for Medical and Health Sciences Colleges and Dean of the College of Medicine, said the conference supports efforts to collect accurate data on chronic and acute diseases through local and international partnerships.
