UAE residents woke up to yet another day of unstable weather conditions on Thursday, December 18. Several authorities have issued advisories warning residents of inclement weather, urging them to exercise caution while driving and to avoid stepping out if possible.

Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre has called on delivery motorcycle riders to strictly adhere to the suspension of movement and services during unstable weather conditions.

Several delivery companies across the UAE said they are monitoring the situation on the ground as the weather changes.

A Deliveroo statement said that its team is continuing to receive updates on the ground from its agency riders and operations teams. “Riders are also encouraged to assess the driving conditions in their area and temporarily log out if they feel unsafe driving,” read the statement.

At Keeta, rider safety is always the priority, said Mike Wang, Head of Logistics. “Everyone’s safety is a shared responsibility, and we continuously monitor official guidance from relevant authorities to ensure we operate responsibly and with care,” he said.

The National Center of Meteorology expects the weather on Thursday to be unstable and partly cloudy to cloudy with some cumulus clouds over scattered areas of the country. The country will receive varying amounts of rain accompanied by lightning, thunder and hail in limited areas.

Winds will be moderate to brisk and occasionally strong with clouds, stirring up dust and sand, leading to reduced horizontal visibility.
