UAE weather: Red alert issued for fog; speed reduction activated in Abu Dhabi

UAE's National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of a chance of fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times over some internal areas, especially westward from 03:00 until 09:30 on Saturday.

The met department sent out red and yellow alerts for fog at 06:30 in some parts of the country. Red denotes the parts with actual fog formation causing visibility less than 1000m.

They warned of fog over Abu Dhabi-Al Ain road toward Al Katim, and in Arjan (Abu Dhabi). Speed reduction system was activated to 80kmph on Al Wiqan road (Shiab Al Ghaf Roundabout- Al Dhahir), the Abu Dhabi police said.

UAE residents can also expect light rainfall over some coastal and northern areas on Saturday, December 27, as per forecasts by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Overall, skies over the country will be fair to partly cloudy and cloudy at times. Humid conditions are expected by night and Sunday morning over some internal and coastal areas.

There will be light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly winds freshening at times, with a speed of 10–20kmph, reaching 35kmph.

The waves in the Arabian Gulf will be light to moderate, with the first high tide occurring at 16:45 and the second at 06:46, and the first low tide at 11:21 and the second at 23:31.

In the Sea of ​​Oman, the waves will be light to moderate, with the first high tide occurring at 14:37 and the second at 02:32, and the first low tide at 08:56 and the second at 19:53

Temperatures will range between 19°C and 26°C in Dubai, 16°C and 26°C in Sharjah and 17°C and 25°C in Abu Dhabi. The lowest temperature recorded over the UAE on Friday was 7.6°C in Ras Al Khaimah's Jebel Jais.
