VIDEO: Heavy rain batters UAE as weather system moves eastward, residents told to stay indoors
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that a primary weather system had been positioned over the far western regions of the country, where heavy rainfall was recorded across scattered areas.According to the NCM, the system had been forecast to advance toward Abu Dhabi between 1:00am and 3:00am on Friday, extending its impact across Dubai and Sharjah, the northern coastal areas, and southern inland regions, bringing periods of heavy rain.The authority added that the system had subsequently been expected to shift toward the northern and eastern parts of the country, including Al Ain, between 4:00am and 5:00am, resulting in further episodes of intense rainfall.The NCM indicated that the weather conditions had been closely monitored, with forecasts pointing to continued instability as the system progressed across different regions of the UAE.According to the NCM, some cloud formations will persist, resulting in moderate to heavy rain in scattered areas until Friday night.The NCM expects that tomorrow’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with some convective clouds, accompanied by heavy rainfall over most areas of the country at intervals, and a drop in temperatures.In a statement, the Centre noted that winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly at 15 to 30, reaching up to 60 km/h. The sea in the Arabian Gulf will be rough, especially with clouds.The second high tide will occur at 08:05, and the first low tide at 15:02.
